Mr. Alexander I. Ignatov, Ambassador of Russia to Bangladesh, called on Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique on Sunday, April 3.

On March 25, the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the People’s Republic of Bangladesh participated in “Independence Festival 2016” which was organized by Muktijuddho Academy to mark the 45th Independence Day of Bangladesh.

His Excellency Mr. Alexander Ignatov, the Ambassador designate of the Russian Federation to the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, has arrived in the city of Dhaka and has taken charge of the Embassy.

Vladimir Putin held a working meeting with Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu to address issues of settling the Syrian crisis. The President gave an order to begin withdrawing the main part of Russian troops from the Syrian Arab Republic on March 15.

The outgoing Russian ambassador has said that the civil aviation authorities of Bangladesh and Russia are holding talks on launching a direct flight between Dhaka and Moscow.

Mr. President, Dear Colleagues, Russia invariably pays significant attention to its participation in the work of the Conference on Disarmament (CD), considering it as a unique platform for dialogue and negotiations on a broad range of topical issues related to arms control, disarmament and non-proliferation. This consensus-based format gives each Member State the confidence that its voice will be heard and its national security interests will be properly taken into account.
