On August 23, Russian Ambassador to Bangladesh H.E. Mr. Alexander Ignatov visited Dhaka University – the leading educational institution of Bangladesh, established in 1921.

During the meeting with Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique, they discussed development of bilateral cooperation in the field of higher education, establishing contacts between Russian and Bangladeshi institutions, as well as providing DU with scientific and fiction literature in Russian.

The Vice-Chancellor expressed satisfaction with the training of Bangladeshi students on nuclear engineering at MIFI university in Moscow and invited Russian specialists to deliver lecturers in atomic energy and other subjects at DU.

Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique congratulated Ambassador on successful performance of the Russian team at the Olympic Games in Rio and said that his country is proud of the fact that Margarita Mamun, the Olympic gold medalist in rhythmic gymnastics, has Bangladeshi roots.
