H.E. Alexander Ignatov, the Russian Ambassador to Bangladesh on 14 November 2016 had a meeting with Qamrul Islam, Hon’ble Minister of Food of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. Representatives of JSC “VO “Prodintorg” management, who had arrived in Dhaka with a visit, also took part in the meeting.

The Bangladesh Side expressed its gratitude for invitation to the Second World Grain Forum (Sochi, 18-19 November 2016), confirmed the Food Minister’s participation in this major international event. Hon’ble Q.Islam is scheduled to meet there with H.E. Alexander Tkachev, the Russian Minister for Agriculture, other heads of Russian profile authorities. At these meetings, issues of further strengthening of Russia-Bangladesh cooperation in agriculture, expansion of the Russian supplies of the agricultural production, its storage and processing on the territory of Bangladesh are likely to be discussed.

During the visit the signing of the Joint Statement between the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Food of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh on the progress of implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Food of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh on procurement of certain types of agricultural products is expected to take place.

As for the JSC “VO “Prodintorg”, the issues of establishment of regular supplies to Bangladesh of Russian high-protein wheat on G2G basis were discussed during the talks.
