On June 27-July 4, 2016 an official delegation led by Dhaka North City Corporation Hon’ble Mayor Mr. Annisul Huq visited Moscow. The delegation included Mr. Md.Mesbahul Islam, Dhaka North City Corporation Chief Executive Officer, members of Dhaka North City Ward councilors Ms. Aleya Sarvar Daisy, Mr. Humayun Rashid, Mr. Kazi Zahirul Islam Manik, Ms. Shamina Rahman and Chairman of Younus Group Mr. Muhammad Younus.

On June 28, Mr. Annisul Huq and Mayor of Russia’s capital Mr. Sergei Sobyanin signed the Program on Cooperation between the Government of Moscow and Dhaka North City Corporation for 2016-2018.

The bilateral document stipulates cooperation and exchange of experience in the areas of public transport and road infrastructure development, urban planning, housing services, protection of environment, tourism and cultural heritage preservation, trade and business.

The Bangladeshi delegation also met Mr. A.M. Samsonov, head of Housing, Communal Services and Beautification Department of Moscow, who acquainted them with Moscow’s experience in utilizing and recycling domestic wastes.

Guests from Bangladesh got an opportunity to study Moscow’s streets lighting network as well as architectural illumination, visited a fire fighting and rescue centre, Central Park of Rest and Culture named after M. Gorky and many other facilities. The program of the visit also included a business meeting at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation.

Mr. Annisul Huq took part in the Moscow Urban Forum on June 30 – July 3, 2016. At the panel discussion “Technological Revolution. Agenda for City Management” he told the participants about major prospects and challenges facing capital city of Bangladesh.

During bilateral meetings and tours around Moscow, Mr. Annisul Huq expressed his interest in using Moscow’s experience for the benefit of his city.
