Participation of the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to FAO and other UN Agencies in Rome in the session of the FAO regional conference
On March 8 - 11 this year Dhaka hosted the 36th session of the FAO Regional Conference for Asia and the Pacific with the participation of representatives of 42 member countries of the Organization, the UN special agencies, international governmental organizations and NGOs. The Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to FAO and other UN Agencies in Rome Mr Victor L. Vasiliev, who headed the delegation comprising the representatives of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Federal Agency for Forestry, delivered a speech via video conference.
The central idea of his speech was a commitment to dialogue on sustainable development, forest management, aquaculture, soil conservation and fertility. Mr Victor L. Vasiliev emphasized that Russia supports the efforts of the Asia-Pacific region countries to resolve the food crisis and stressed the need to implement national commitments to tackle climate change.
