Mr. Alexander I. IGNATOV
AMBASSADOR OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION
TO THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF BANGLADESH
Born in 1955.
Higher education: in 1978 graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO University) and joined the diplomatic service.
Served in different capacities at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) and diplomatic missions abroad.
In 1978-2003 worked at the Embassy of the USSR/the Russian Federation in Bangladesh, the USA, New Zealand, Republic of Korea and Cambodia.
In 2003-2008 – Deputy Head, Deputy Director of the Bureau/Department for Asian Issues, Department for ASEAN and Asian Issues of the MoFA of the Russian Federation.
In 2009-2013 – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Kingdom of Cambodia.
In 2014-2016 – Deputy Director of the 2nd Department of Asia of the MoFA of the Russian Federation.
On February 10, 2016 was appointed as an Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the People's Republic of Bangladesh.
Has the diplomatic rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary.
