The visit of the Russian Navy oceanographic research vessel "Admiral Vladimirsky" to the port of Chittagong
On April 28 – May 1 this year the oceanographic research vessel "Admiral Vladimirsky" of the Russian naval fleet visited the port of Chittagong as a part of the research expedition in the Indian Ocean area.
The protocol meetings were held between the captain of the "Admiral Vladimirsky" ship and the Commander of the Chittagong Naval Zone Rear Admiral M. Abu Ashraf, the Commander of Bangladesh Navy fleet at Chittagong Rear Admiral M. Ashraful Haque and the chairman of Chittagong Port Authority Commodore Zulfikar Aziz.
Russian sailors laid a wreath at the grave of the senior sailor Yury V.Redkin, who died in 1973 performing his duty during the demining operation of the port of Chittagong and the adjacent areas of the Bay of Bengal, as well as the cleaning of the water area from sunken ships (1972-1974). The delegation of Russian sailors also visited a number of military facilities.
The visit of the "Admiral Vladimirsky" vessel was highly appreciated by the host party, which expressed interest in further intensification of cooperation between the Russian and the Bangladesh Navy.
