Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the People's Republic of Bangladesh

  • Born on April 28, 1955.
  • In 1978 graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations.
  • Joined the diplomatic service the same year. Served in different capacities at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and diplomatic missions abroad.
  • Worked at the Embassy of the USSR in Bangladesh (1978 – 1980),
  • at the Embassy of the USSR in the USA (1980-1984),
  • at the Embassy of the USSR in New Zealand (1985-1990),
  • at the Embassy of Russia in the Republic of Korea (1992-1996),
  • at the Embassy of Russia in Cambodia (1999-2003).
  • In 2003-2004 – Deputy Head of the Bureau for Asian Issues and Deputy Director of the Department for Asian Issues of the MOFA of Russia.
  • Since August 2004 – Deputy Director of the Department for ASEAN and Asian Issues.
  • Since 2008 – Deputy Director of the Department for Asian Issues.
  • In 2009-2013 – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Cambodia.
  • In 2014-2016 – Deputy Director of the 2nd Department of Asia of the Russian MOFA.
  • Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation in the People's Republic of Bangladesh.
  • Diplomatic rank - Envoy Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the 1st Class.
  • Married, with an adult daughter.

Presentation of Credentials

H.E. Mr. Alexander I. Ignatov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the People’s Republic of Bangladesh presented his Credentials to H.E. Md. Abdul Hamid, Hon’ble President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, on April 5, 2015.

After the Ceremony at the President's Palace Bangabhaban, H.E. Mr. Alexander I.Ignatov had a substantive talk with H.E. Md. Abdul Hamid on the issues relating to development of bilateral relations between Russia and Bangladesh.
