Address by H.E. Mr. Alexander Ignatov, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, at the National Day reception June 14, 2016
Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs Mahmood Ali,
Honourable Ministers, Excellences,
Ladies and Gentlemen, Dear friends,
I am proud and honoured to host the National Day of the Russian Federation reception by chance at the same Embassy where exactly 38 years ago I started my diplomatic carrier.
So much water has flown under the bridges of the Ganges and Brahmaputra rivers since that time! It was Soviet Union back then and today we are celebrating the 25th anniversary of a newborn Russia established in 1991.
Our young state went through a period of trials and proved its vitality. Bangladesh has changed drastically as well. In this respect I am more than happy to acknowledge that our bilateral ties with the People’s Republic of Bangladesh have been steadily progressing on the basis of respect, trust and mutual benefit.
Early next year we will be celebrating 45th anniversary of our diplomatic relations. And together we have a lot to be proud of. It relates to such fields as top level political ties, economic relations, education and personnel training, military cooperation etc.
We march ahead with confidence, planning our mutual endeavours for decades to come. The potential of Russia-Bangladesh trade, investment, technological, scientific and cultural interaction is inexhaustible indeed. There is no doubt that in the years ahead our countries will open up new horizons of cooperation. Friendship and partnership of Russia and Bangladesh have all the prerequisites to thrive and blossom for the security and prosperity of our nations and the world at large.
Joy Russia! Joy Bangladesh!
