Bangladesh takes active part in the Group of Strategic Vision “Russia – Islamic World” meeting

Bangladesh is a member and constant participant of meetings of the Group of Strategic Vision “Russia – Islamic World”. On May 16-17, the third meeting of the Group was held in the Chechen Republic’s capital city Grozny in which prominent Bangladeshi political leader H.E. Syed Nazibul Bashar Maizvandari, a Member of Parliament and Chairman of Bangladesh Tariqat Federation, participated.

Mr Maizvandari, while speaking at the meeting, noted a great potential of the Group “Russia – Islamic World” in maintaining global stability and highly appraised Russia’s efforts to achieve peaceful resolution of the Syrian crisis. He called upon our country to continue resisting those states which in the guise of peaceful declarations provide terrorists with arms and finance. In addition, Mr Maizvandari put forward a broad cooperation program within the framework of the Group of Strategic Vision aiming at fighting religious extremism and developing a comprehensive collaboration between Russia and Bangladesh as well as between the Muslim communities of the two countries. The Bangladeshi participant also came up with an initiative to organize one of the future meetings of the Strategic Vision Group in Dhaka and stressed the importance of cooperation between our nations in counterterrorism and poverty alleviation.

Eminent political figures from almost 30 Muslim countries took part in the Group’s meeting in Grozny. At its inauguration ceremony, a message by Russian President Vladimir Putin was read out in which he said that ‘'better ties with Muslim countries have become a genuine factor of international stability, a condition to resolving global issues that all of our nations and states are facing'.

The participants got acquainted with local historical sites and rich culture of different nations living in the Chechen Republic. On May 16, foreign guests prayed in Heart of Mother Mosque in Grozny. On May 18, they will go to Kazan, where the IX International Economic Summit “Russia – Islamic World: KazanSummit” will take place.
